Strong performances from an outstanding cast. The Kids Are All Right centers around an unconventional family, two moms and two kids conceived by artificial insemination. Bening plays a controllng, Type-A doctor who is married to the fun loving and free spirited housewife, Moore, who wants to start her own business now that both of their kids are almost out of the house. Out of curiosity, the kids reach out to their charming, yet slightly self-centered sperm donor, played by Mark Ruffalo.
What makes this film special is the comedy and the drama that comes through these likable, yet flawed characters. While the plot line gets a little messy and the ending is highly annoying, this movie stays as true to life as it can without being too depressing.
