Die Hard Lives Again

An enjoyable fourth attempt. First of all, I have to say that I was rather impressed with Len Wiseman's directing ability in this film. He hasn't done very many films and the films he has done aren't exactly the most incredible; however, I feel like Wiseman stepped up this time around. All the usual elements of a Die Hard film were present, the incredible action sequences, John's wisecracks, and of course, the incredible amount of cussing... or not this time around.
Besides the unmistakable Die Hard elements, they added a few new things this, some of which worked and other of which really didn't. So, the things that did work were John's daughter and Justin Long, I felt they were additions that would be annoying, frustrating even, but they actually were entertaining, more or less anyways. Now a few things that didn't work were definitely the addition of Kevin Smith. Let me first say, I love Kevin Smith. I love his films, but his role in this film was in a word, POINTLESS. They could've been interacting with a computer and it would have worked just as well. Also, the "love story" between John's daughter and Justin Long, not believable in the slightest. I felt like the writers were trying too hard to show that "the good guy" gets the girl. Even with these minor quirks the movie is incredibly entertaining. So I have to give it a good score. If I'm entertained, I just can't mark it as being bad.
