William Holden plays a violinist/boxer with a dilemma: he can't make any money playing music, but if he boxes, he could ruin his hands, and he won't be able to box anymore. Older and wiser Barbara Stanwyck (she was younger than him in real life) persuades him to do the "right" thing, which does not quite coincide with his conscience. Much better than I thought it would be (could have been cheesy), I recommend seeing it if you get the chance.
