Sandrine Bonnaire plays a woman who works in a hotel. Slowly she discovers (after a chance encounter with Jennifer Beals), that she has a passion for chess. While Sandrine Bonnaire is a great actress, Kevin Kline's French inhibits the movie from moving forward at a great pace. The story is nothing that exciting, but at least Sandrine acts wonderfully.
