Jeff Bridges reminded me exactly of Kris Kristofferson in this film by the way he looked. His personality was more of the Waylon Jennings type. The movie is based on a novel and the writer/director decided to use this source material after not being able to get the rights to the Merle Haggard. So many inspirations for this character and they were all nicely blended. Overall, the acting was great. But the music handpicked by T Bone Burnett was fitting too. Colin Farrell was a little weird as the "country star" (who the novelist based on Conway Twitty, yet Colin was of course so different, more like a Keith Urban).
It's not only about country music, but about redemption in a non-cheesy way. Jeff Bridges' character (Bad) had to reach several emotional truths and a breaking point in order to move past the rut he was in.
