Just saw it last night. It was amazing. Obviously influenced by David Lynch, Hopkins claimed it is the movies of the forties and fifties that made him make this film. He says he remembers his father announcing that Hitler committed suicide and he said he decided to act the day it was announced James Dean was killed. Images of Hitler, James Dean, Bette Davis, etc. run rampant throughout the film. There is a funny part when continuity is mentioned.
Anthony wrote this as a stream of consciousness exercise. Michael Clarke Duncan and John Tuturro were standout performers. Obviously Anthony Hopkins the man was great too.
