.5 out of 4! Come on people, loosen up! Seriously, this movie is perfect for what it is trying to do, which is be a movie for little children, toddler to pre-K, and it does a pretty good job of doing that and eliciting viewer response. It will drive an adult crazy if there is more than one little kid around making raspberry sounds to aid Elmo in his quest in grouchland, but it is playing on children's love of making sounds. I think the sesame series is wonderful for children, but maybe I've been watching too much Elmo's World lately.
Bert and Ernie regulary stop the film at moments that may be upsetting to toddlers, which will upset adults in a different way. Bert expresses the concern of the perceived audience and Ernie explains and soothes his fears away. This means that scenes that may be tense or upsetting for the little tykes are made softer and more watchable and more enjoyable for little ones who are easily upset.
