Terrance Malik salvages the tale of John Smith and Pocahontas, and Native American relations with English settlers from the naive outlooks of Disney and mainstream Hollywood. "The New World" is fascinating stuff. It's one of this director's most beautiful features and also one of his easiest to comprehend.
