If you can sit throughthis entire movie and NOT think that there's something messed up about it, then you are smoking some pretty hard s***. This movie is easily one of the greatest movies of all time, directed y the greatest filmaker who ever lived, Stanley Kubrick.
The movie is told in three parts, though there is no distinguishing between the parts. You have to guess.
Part one is about a gang of white 18 year old anarchists in a dark, gritty London. Their days are mostly spent doing the following: Rape, murder, drugs, and beating up poor people. Pretty normal 18 year old behavior, as you can see. Unfortunately, the gang's leader Alex DeLarge (the ultimate bad-ass) is caught beating an old guy and raping his wife, and he is subsequently sent to jail.
Part two is mostly about Alex in jail, wanting to get out. He contemplates jailbreak, but is unable to escape. He then signs up for an experimental decriminalization program that allows him to get out. They strap him to a chair, pry his eyes open, and force him to watch videos of rape murder, and Hitler. It works, and he is set free.
Part three is about Alex when he's back in the real world. He is not able to rape people or even defend himself, or else he'll get physically ill. Basically, he's f***ed. He meets his old Droogs, whom he had a falling out with when he was arrested. They beat the living crap out of him, and since every time he tries to throw a punch, he grows weak. He then goes to stay with the old man he beat. The old man finds out who he is, and forces him to listen to Beethoven, which also makes him ill. Alex attempts suicide and fails. When he fails, the decriminalization program in his brain is defused, and he is able to kick ass again. He then goes on and lives his old life. Knowing Alex, he probabely either kills his Droogs or beats the living s*** out of them to show them who's boss. We'll never know.
The plot is excellent. One of the rare instances where the movie is better than the book. If you liked the book, then you'll love the movie.
The acting is phenominal.Malcom McDowell delivers one of the greatest acting performances of all time. Though he's really the only one really worth watching.
I don't even have to explain how good the direction is. Stanley Kubrick does another great job. RIP Stanley.
