The Dark Knight is an Outstanding and amazingly clever film that gets everything perfectly right down to the smallest detail. The film is roughly two hours and forty minutes long, however, you wouldn't notice because the film is so action packed and exciting that the time goes by fast. Christopher Nolan is with out a doubt on of the best directors out there today, he was a wonderful way of telling a story and also knows how to give every actor on screen their equal amount of screen time, never wasting a single actor. What he does with this film will undoubtedly boost his career and rightfully so. The screenplay is brilliant for giving every actor good dialogue and just the right words to say. The performances are the superb with Christian Bale giving a tough, charming and very sincere performance as the caped crusader, he's so good that he quite possibly could be better than Michael Keaton, not an easy thing to do. Heath Ledger, where do i start? Not only does he give a masterful performance but it one of the best performances i have ever seen and also he delivers one of the greatest 'villain' performances in movie history. His performance in my eyes cannot be compared to Jack Nicholson's performance of Joker because they are two different persona's, Nicholson's was very jokey and humorous, Ledger's is more dark, demonic and sadistic. Ledger should not only be nominated for an oscar, but he should posthumously win, not as a tribute, but because he earned it. He's chilling and quite fun as Joker and steals the show. Aaron Eckhart is good as well but his Harvey Dent character doesn't get interesting until the second half of the movie (you'll see why.), Maggie Gyllenhaal is also good as Rachel Daws, giving without a doubt a better performance than Katie Holmes did in Batman Begins, in this film, the character is a lot more depth and shows more emotion to what's happening around her. Gary Oldman is good too, giving a solid not to mention important performance and a much longer performance than the first time around. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and even Eric Roberts are also good, but all three of their roles are very short, i wish they had more to do (especially Caine, who's always fun). The Action scenes are stunning and well staged. The score is still great with a spine tingling second score that plays when Joker appears on screen is wonderful and reminds me of the score that plays when Darth Vader appears on screen in Star Wars. The Dark Knight is by far the best movie of the year so far and puts every other summer movie to shame. It is also the very best superhero movie ever made simply because it gives you everything you could ask for in one movie. I had a blast watching this movie and i can't wait for the third film. ...Now if only i could get rid of the goosebumps i have from Heath Ledgers masterpiece of a performance.

R.I.P Heath Ledger (Thanks for knocking one out of the park.).
