This was well on it's way to getting a high rating. Mixing things we've seen from Paranormal Activity and Poltergeist (among others), it has a great build-up. Rather than relying on gore to scare you it's always the thought of what might be there that frightens you more. Bumps in the night, strange voices, and things seen out of the corner of eyes make for some good jumps while viewing this movie. But then the movie takes a weird turn halfway through, and I was actually okay with it, even with the strange third act (if you haven't seen it, it answers the "what if we had seen what Jo Beth Williams sees when she goes into the realm to rescue Carol Anne" question). But then it happened. The out-of-nowhere second twist in the final two minutes that ends the movie completely different than what had been set up. I'm fed up with it. I'm tired of movies building to a conclusion only to veer off into left field for something completely unsatisfying. News flash, directors and writers - you will never top The Sixth Sense. Ever. And the sooner you realize this, the sooner you'll stop pissing people off who have invested into watching your film.
