A new begining or more of the same

A new begining or a prelude to a loss of imagination? I always love a good horror flick, whether it's got a plot or just mindless violence entertainment is entertainment. The problem with our movies today is pure shock & gore which equals boooring. No suspense & absolutly nothing left to the imagination. This holds true to our good buddy Jason. Of course we get the obnoxious boyfriend, the friends along for the ride (hey, the movie does need a body count) & the hero brother looking for his sister & blah, blah, blah you must be able to guess the rest. While I must admit too actually liking the movie on a subhuman level it was basically only something to pass the time. The problem with this genre is that if you have seen one of these movies you have seen them all. Would I recommend it? Yeah, but not for everyone, it requires a special kind of love for this genre, you know the kind you lay on a couch & spill your guts kind. Now since I don't give into the whole was the movie one, two or three stars thing I won't go there. My system is based on how many times I feel myself thinking I wish I saw this at home so I can fast forward this part. And on that note I had a zero reach level for the remote.

Friday the 13th Review comment
No doubt at all that this was a terrible remake of a classic slasher film. In stark reality it should have been called Friday The 13th Part 3 as most of the film was more along the lines of the third in the original series (Adult Jason, hockey mask and machete). I also found the gore to be of a much lower standard than Tom Savini's amazing prosthetic work of the original film. Overall I will give this 1 star just for a good looking Jason, everything else sucked.
