Underrated and Overlooked.

I've wanted to see this film for years. It not only exceeded my expectations significantly, but also it was extremely surprising just how good it really was. It's a shame it was a Television-Movie because most people overlook those as a work of film. Personally, it's probably one of the most underrated films I've ever seen, very very compelling and engaging. Many films that portray real serial killers are simply exploitative, poorly made, quickly written b-horror films, however Citizen X is one of the very best historical accounts of a real serial-killer. Of coarse Sutherland and Rea are fantastic, along with Max Von Sydow, but I think Jeffrey DeMunn who plays the killer himself, Andre Chikatilo, is truly brilliant. DeMunn, has always been one of my favorite underrated actors, and in this, his performance is worthy of a Supporting-Actor Oscar. It's probably the only T.V.-movie that I would consider one of my very favorite films.
