Did this movie have subtitles when it was shown in theatres? I watched it on dvd and it didn't have subtitles. I assumed it was supposed to be that way and finished the film. I liked it without but was confused on the Japanese story.

It had subtitles in the theater. You must of had them off :( It was a good/slow movie.
