Review - Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)

Dick (Jim Carrey) and Jane Harper (Téa Leoni) were two successful people until Dick’s company went under and Jane quit her job. Now, in order to save their home from foreclosure, they need to find money fast. Their escapades are chronicled in “Fun with Dick and Jane.”
Carrey is an interesting actor. He can pull off just about any type of role he’s put in. The only problem here is that I don’t think they knew exactly what kind of role his character was in. There is comedy, drama, action, and none of it really sticks with the rest. Still, a lot of the jokes work, and it is labeled a comedy, so it’s fine.
That’s really the problem with the whole movie. It tries to be a real-life movie, but there’s too much sillyness in some scenes for it to work. And I’m not saying life isn’t silly. It’s just not “Jim Carrey” silly.
I don’t feel I explained this movie very well, but there’s really not much to explain. If you don’t think to hard about it, “Fun with Dick and Jane” is a fun movie that can be enjoyed by some, and not by others.
