Pvt. Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) was a fresh face in the Vietnam war, and the second he arrived he knew it would be tough. His discovery of the worth of life is explored in the Best Picture winning film, “Platoon.”

So this is why Sheen still gets work. I’d been wondering, since I’ve never liked anything he’s done, but it looks like that’s changed now. “Platoon” is a truly amazing film to watch, as it was written by somebody who was there and actually experienced the events that took place. Okay, maybe not all of them, but the spirit is there.

Director Oliver Stone really seems to capture the tragedy of war in a new light that is rarely seen in cinema. Rather than having a two hour movie saying how bad war is, it’s a movie that shows what war is, and why it happens. It’s a very deep movie, which comes as no surprise.

There are a few shots in the film, however, that struck me as odd. It was nothing major, but the camerawork seemed a bit off. Even so, this is a great film that really changes the way you look at war.
