Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Review - The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003)

Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) was just a simple hobbit living in Middle Earth when Gandalf (Ian McKellen) sent him on a mission to destroy his uncle's Ring of Power. His adventure is chronicled in the three part epic, "The Lord of the Rings."

I'm sorry to anybody that thinks of the series as three movies, because I don't. They were all filmed together and even the original books were intended as one straight story. The fact is people don't want to sit through a ten hour movie, so that's that.

Anyway, "The Lord of the Rings" is one of the greatest stories ever told, and I don't mean that just as the story itself, but it is told on a bigger scale than anything else. It all takes place in a huge world filled with a number of different creatures and characters and thus can be called nothing but great.

As for the film series itself, I believe it also to be great. The whole story is told flawlessly, and with very few changes from the original J.R.R. Tolkien books. Director Peter Jackson really knew what he was doing with the series and executed it perfectly.

If there were any epic story worth telling, "The Lord of the Rings" is it. I can't really explain it much further, you just have to see for yourself.
