Review - The Sixth Sense (1999)

Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis), a child psychologist, didn’t know what he was getting into when he became Cole Sear’s (Haley Joel Osment) doctor. His investigation in both of their lives is seen in “The Sixth Sense.”
Writer/director M. Night Shyamalan has become a staple of mysterious horror and science fiction films ever since this one. He’s never really been a good writer, but he’s a brilliant director who can get his poor scripts to work on camera. “The Sixth Sense” is the strongest example of this in his filmography.
Willis and Osment both give stellar performances, even though their source material is ridiculous. The story is great and original, but the dialogue and certain elements of the storytelling are just terrible. I’m sure there are a lot of people that would disagree with me, but when you know the secret of the movie, you can point out several problems on another run-through.
“The Sixth Sense” is really a good movie, so much that I do think it’s one of those must-see movies, but I have several problems with it, none of which actually ruin it for me.
