Review - Untraceable (2008)

We live in an age where technology can be our friend or our enemy. Sometimes technology can actually be the solution to technological problems. I just wish I had some sort of technology to erase the original print of “Untraceable.”
Diane Lane stars as Jennifer Marsh, an FBI agent trying to crack down on a man who kidnaps people and tortures them live via his website and won’t kill them until enough people are logged on and watching. It’s kinda funny that the police are trying to stop him when they can’t keep track of him without logging on. Doesn’t that technically mean that the police are aiding in the murders?
Regardless, when you watch this you know by the end that you just watched a complete rip-off of “The Silence of the Lambs.” Not only is the mood similar, but the plot flows through almost exactly the same. Female cop hunts uncatchable villain and, well, I guess I won’t spoil anything. Just know that watching “Silence” is much more worth your time.
I’m not sure what else to say here. There’s not much to see in “Untraceable” that can’t be seen in other thrillers. It’s unoriginal and uninteresting. Like I said, go rent “The Silence of the Lambs” and enjoy.
