We showed this film at University to our Theater Arts Club (we showed the director's cut by the way) and once the credits rolled a girl named Jenny stood up and exclaimed, "What the hell does that mean?!?"
With a wry smile we simply repeated one of Harrison's best lines: "How can you not know what you are?"
Chalk this one up to being a thinking man's sci-fi journey to finding the cradle of the soul, which shows a disturbing futuristic version of Los Angeles, and where the only redeeming values to being human are the facts that when one murders it is called "retirement" and when one is born one lives longer than about 4 years.
