This is not a fast-paced film, so if you're skittish about coming-of-age stories, you'll want to skip it.
Diner is a great character-driven story about 5 young men who don't want to grow up. They like their girls and just hanging out at their favorite Baltimore diner. But the trappings of adulthood come unexpectedly and swiftly to our heroes and difficult decisions must be made. Like it or not, they realize that there are consequences to actions and seeing those consequences are what truly defines growing up.
The writing, acting, and direction are spot-on and there are some shots in this film that will make your jaw drop. Spend the week after Chrismas in 1959 Baltimore -- you'll be glad you did.
