To say our society is celebrity-obsessed is an understatement. What Antiviral does is take this unhealthy fascination and just go somewhere very dark and kind of disgusting: how close do you want to get to your favorite celebrity? How about injecting a strain of hepetitus straight into your lip they carried! Or getting the exact same strain of flu. Or eating a "steak" grown from their cells. It's quite disturbing and it's a sure sign that Brandon Cronenberg is not afraid to take on the same twisted subject matter his father, David, is know for. Antiviral isn't perfect, but it's a good start. And the end kicker is a sight to see.
