A most ambitious project from Richard Linklater - a film 12 years in the making following the life of Mason - along with his family. Though there is some pacing issues, the film is a brilliant portrayal of this life. I especially like the use of the music, along with cultural touchstones (9/11, Harry Potter, elections, technology) to place you in that moment of time. It doesn't try to make this life look amazing or magical - it's just life, warts and all - casting is great, emotion high and though I preferred the first half over the second myself, as a whole, it's an excellent film deserving of its accolades.
