The world is full of con artists and fakes - but maybe none quite as passionate (and deluded) as John Spano. The one-time owner (for a short time) of the New York Islanders was as audacious as he was confident - spinning excuse after excuse for why he couldn't pay for the team he technically owned. Eventually a fast life and media scrutiny caught up to him. What is fascinating is the interview Spano gives (his first, apparently, about this ordeal) and how amazed he sounds about how things played out. He comes across as arrogant yet soft-spoken - and maybe just a touch mad. Another fantastic 30 for 30 entry.
