Best Job in the Worst Situation

Fury gets war right - it's not glamorous, it's not fun - it's dirty, it's mean and it will change you. The crew of Fury has been through it all - Africa, cleaning up after D-Day, Belgium and now they find themselves in Germany, the war nearly over, but still plenty of people to kill. They have just lost their tail-gunner and the replacement is a recruit 8 weeks in, formerly a typist. He doesn't know how he got there, doesn't really want to be in a tank crew - but that's where he is. I wish the film had gone more in depth with these characters - Lerman and Pitt are given some elements to work with, but everyone else (Peña, LaBeouf and Bernthal) are pretty much broad strokes (angry, religious, insane). If it had been deeper, it would have been better - but at least it portrays war in the right way - violent, unrelenting and ever-present.
