This is the Coen Brother's love letter to the Golden Age of Hollywood and, if you are familiar at all with that period, you will get a lot more out of the film From Channing Tatum's surprisingly effective tap-dancing to Alden Ehrenreich's cowboy-turned-dramatic actor to Scarlett Johansson's Esther Williams sendup - the film is dripping in 50s Hollywood culture and aesthetic. While the laughter could have been better, overall I felt a lot of love coming from this project and is worth it for any fan of the era.
