Nicolas Cage never ceases to amaze me - and Dream Scenario is a prime example of finding the right fit for the right project. Cage portrays a tenured professor - but also a schlub of a nobody - that is, until he starts randomly appearing in people's dreams. I love how his initial reaction to all this is his concern that in these dreams - no matter how outlandish - he never helps anyone he's just... there, and it bothers him. Of course the film goes off the rails after an embarrassing encounter suddenly changes his passive appearance to nightmarish murders, assaults and worse - and he becomes a cancelled pariah. It's a crazy idea but it just works with Cage and it's well worth a watch.
