Naomi Scott gives a truly inspired performance of a pop star haunted by trauma while dealing with the inevitable madness brought on by the Smile demon. The film touches on themes of isolation and addiction while still managing to scare the bejesus out of you both with ramping tension and those gotcha moments that punctuate the franchise. It's the rare horror film that pulls off jump scares really well while also offering much more - plus that ending is gold. It's a solid horror franchise that puts a smile on my face - and hopefully we get more.
