This is a grindhouse gore-fest through and through and if you are expecting anything more - too bad. The sequels give us a lot more to care about (actual character development along with the gore) but this first outing is strictly for gore hounds. Almost all the characters are here to die in twisted ways and it doesn't even hint at the supernatural until the end. But, hey, at least we get David Howard Thornton giving us a new villain for the ages and Catherine Corcoran's truly horrific death scene.
