Man is steel, the tank is only iron.

June 1982 and the beginning of the first Lebanon war is beginning. A lone Israeli tank is despatched on a mission into Lebanese territory accompanied by a platoon of paratroopers.
Masquerading as a brutal modern war film, Lebanon comes across as a little gimmicky with all its action confined to the interior of a tank. There is a genuine innovative feel as the claustrophobic and visceral cinema photography is vividly portrayed. Any war films realism could only be judged by the people who were there but the "in your face" imagery is graphically realised.
Lebanon is not without its flaws though, it is has a criminally short running time, is hampered by a low budget and skimps on characterisation and plot.
An interesting and watchable movie which is nowhere near as good as the movie "Waltz with Bashir" which also deals with events in the 1982 Lebanon War.
