The Green Hornet Review

In general amuch better start to 2011, obviously after having seen Season of the Witch. I never did have much knowledge about the film serial or what other media its source material is based off of although for some reason I think it must be overall faithful to the main concept of the character. The overall plot is that a man named Britt Reid, son of James Ried Los Angeles publisher of The Daily Sentinel who all of a sudden finds himself forced out of his playboy slacking life when he learns of James' death one day. Having no one else to turn to, he befriends one of his remaining servants, Kato. When the two one day end up finding themselves in the crime fighting sphere through certain events,Britt takes up the identity of The Green Hornet with Kato at his side to act as the city's antiheros to save the day. The story is as you might have guessed an action comedy as well as a buddy cop film, and it does manage to deliver in these areas. The action manages to move things nicely and swiftly wheneverthey happen, although there are points where it might seem to be a bit up close too often. I'd call the acting overall pretty decent, I will admit to the common complaint of how Seth Rogan didn't exactly sell his performance as that of a crime fighter, but then again it was probably intentional considering his character.Maybe ifa sequel is ever madehe'll make the attempt to put a more serious face for the role. Of course if plans for a sequel ever do follow, that will be a portion of the plot to address considering the ending. I haven't seen the film in 3D but at this point I have an idea of what films supporting 3D would be like and I think it is safe to say it's nothing all that special, so I don't think it's really worth paying extra for. Overall an enjoyable film that delivers the goods in terms of what was advertised, though not much more. Just don't go in with Iron Man 1 or 2 expectations and you won't be dissapointed.
