I was expecting a great deal from this videogame turned live action movie since I've been hooked playing it when it first came out on the pc console. And what a huge let down for a gamer like me to be seeing something that tarnishes the name Max Payne. Everything was a mess and not even as accurate as they should since they’re basing the movie from the game. The actor playing Max is not even close to resemble such an icon. In the game Max Payne is the ultimate tough guy with the mean husky voice and a thirst for blood like no one else. In the movie though he’s played by the biggest wuss actor there is. I believe that Mark Wahlberg was definitely the wrong choice to play the role of the title character. I know the guy is a former rapper and there’s no doubt he can handle a gun but the thing is he has no commanding presence whatsoever. Plus his gunfights which is Max Payne’s bread and butter is like that of an amateur in this movie. The supporting actors did not help to the cause as well with their robotic performances. Chris Ludacris is just lame, I know he can act but every time his mouth opens I feel he’s going to rap or something. Mila Kunis performance is not even worth mentioning, the character Mona Sax is supposed to be sultry and enigmatic but sadly she’s dull as a rock. The storyline is as I said so far from the game, the writers of this movie should take my advice and get another job. It would have been nice to juiced up the action sequences with guns blazing and all hell breaks loose but no you’ll be drag for an hour and a half of all talk no action. By the time Max picks up a gun and fight you’re already half asleep at your seats. The bullet time which is like a trans state in the game where Max is at his peak when firing his weapons and dodging bullets was not at all used in the movie. Overall if you’re a gamer don’t even attempt to see this not even a peak. Non-gamers will be practically clueless and will be just be bored to death.
