I Heard the Book Was Better...

Well, after being forced reluctantly by some friends into watching this movie, I gave in. It might effect the review, the fact that I was surrounded by oggling, drooling, dumb-founded fangirls through-out the whole movie that is. But I'll give you my opinions anyway.
Now, I have never been a fan of the books, I noticed the book of this came out years back, and now the fangirls have only just been catching on. I myself, have always read books such as 'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Dexter, Shogun, and the Resident Evil series' and so, I think you may get it when I say 'Twilight' isn't really my thing. So, I can't help but review the movie without help from knowing every fact from the book. Sorry.
So anyway, the movie starts with us meeting Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, she moves to live with her dad when and finds out she's now living in a town with a few vampires lurking about in it. One being that of, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), the two are bought together, and we are the viewers of a very 'Romeo and Juliet' type story. So, anyway, Kristen Stewart's performance through-out the whole movie is alright, nothing 'Garbage Day' like, and some of the lines by her are delivered well. Apart from the Hospital scene, and the scene before hand...In which case, well...I don't know if it was meant to be written like that. But anyway. Now, Robert Pattinson, his acting is okay, again nothing that completely blew me away, but again it was alright.
The camera angles in the movie are well done, in some cases, such as the scene in which both characters lie on the forest ground, the panning of the camera makes the viewer get well into the feel of what's going on. And I also, on this good note, I have nothing bad to say about the Baseball scene. Which impressed me due to its combination of dark, vampyric setting, great music by Muse, and well-done special effects of super speed.
The movie does do the annoying thing of fitting the 'teen' genre a bit too much. In a bad, emo, way. The theme of vampires, is dark, has always been dark, and at the end of the day, let's face it, vampires, are pretty evil. But the teenagers walking back in forth with their heads hanging low and their body language almost complety stinking of enough angst to make a happy person want to shoot themselves in the face, after of course, pondering their oh-so sad life first, doesn't help the films image much.
There was much debate about this movie, and I suppose it came out like marmite, you either love it, or you hate it.
And I'm afraid I disliked it, the characters are a bit silly on parts and Edward and Bella's moaning was what got to me the most. Also, although a weak arguement, the fanbase did get to me too, because after having the movie shoved in my face to watch, and being told it was the best thing since sliced bread, I was quite disapointed when I watched a channel 5 movie that turned out to be more exhilerating and less life-draining to watch that this 'Vampire' tale. In fact I think I'll finish on that note, you don't want to get me started on the sparkles.
