A huge disappointment

After the excellent superhero movie that was X-Men 2, I was understandably looking forward to this sequel. I was aware that with Bryan Singer gone, it may not be of the same class but I never expected this!
*warning spoilers!!*
The fact that they took turns that no-one expected for no apparant reason than to be shocking didn't sit well with me. I didn't like how they killed off Scott (my favourite character) right at the beginning or what the point was in 'killing' Xavier and stripping Magneto of his powers when they basically suggested they have undone it all during the credits!
*end of spoilers!*
The acting was fine and the script was passable. The action scenes were good, as always, but the plot just seemed completely empty, as did the characters. I just didn't care about anything that was happening to be honest. Overall, I was very disappointed and will be sticking to the previous two if I'm looking for a way to waste a couple of hours.
