A Visual Masterpiece

Okay, went to see A Christmas Carol recently in true 3D and over all was very impressed with it. However I think this was more because of its brilliant visual appeal. I t really is the finest 3D animation I have seen to date and its use of classic Christmas music really puts you in Victorian England. It sticks a lot more to the classic story than a lot of other remakes in the sense that although its a Hollywood made animation its not really a comedy made for the kids with endless joke after joke instead the director sticks to telling the story and uses some Victorian language. So the movie was good and watched it mostly like a kid when I first heard the story being told to me but throughout it I kept having this feeling of like I was waiting for something that i could not put my finger on. I think it was to do with the fact that the story was so well known there was no surprises apart from the visual effects and secretly I was probably expecting more humor from a Jim Carey movie. As for the actors I thought Carey did a averagely good job as scrooge although did stick out like a sore thumb at the beginning of the movie among the actual English actors. As an Irish man I found the voice of the ghost of Christmas past particularly annoying even after I realised it was Carey. The ghost of Christmas past was less annoying but I didn't think a half Yorkshire half member of the Beatles voice suited the character and should of been cast to someone with more of a naturally majestic voice. As for the rest of the actors I think they did a fine job although I think it is worth mentioning I enjoyed seeing characters who are not as big as Carey/Oldman etc. This was because with the famous actors characters I was distracted at how they looked similar to there real life image but at a poorer quality even though this 3D modelling was probably intentional. A pity as well that it was not released just a week or two closer to Christmas but what are you gunna do! My advice would be to definately go see for its visual beauty alone and to hear that classic story told one more time(probably not the last though!) and plus you hardly want to wait for it to come out on DVD in March-April,thats just wrong! let me know what you think, Crozzer!
