The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most amazingly powerful musicals I've ever seen. The music is moving and beautiful. This particular remake of the classic story is the best yet on film but has some very key problems. One of those being the Phantom. The voice of the actor who played this role was flat, emotionless and didn't fit the part. He didn't give a believable performance and it made watching some of my favorite scences difficult. On the flip side Emmy Rosum delivered an outstanding performance in the role of Christine as well as Minnie Driver as Carlotta. The sets, special effect and transitions were also very beautiful and added to the entire experience. The opening overture looked very beautiful as the old broken down opera house transformes seamlessly to the same house in it's glory days. I would definitely recomend this film, but more importantly I would recomend everyone to see the live production. It is unmatched by any onscreen adaptation!
