The Godfather was everything I've ever wanted to see in a movie. Everything was done brilliantly, almost lovingly, and almost everything fell into place in the film.
The story was one of the most unique that I've ever seen in a film, pieced together fantastically with wonderful characters, acting, and dialogue. The way the story progressed through the movie kept me amazed the entire way through, and I felt the story get even more compelling as the movie went on. Each character though the film had their own way of presenting themselves, which made the movie even more compelling to watch as time went on. Everything seemed to fit together at the end of the film, which is one of the things I truly loved about The Godfather.
The reasons why I'm giving The Godfather a 3.5 instead of a 4.0 are very slim, but they're important to me. First, The Godfather was far more drama based than I like in a film. The drama was wonderfully played out, don't get me wrong, but I expected more crime in the long film. Second comes the long part. The movie wasn't too awful long, and it was entertaining, but I didn't think it would be as long as it was. I felt that the movie dragged on in some parts, which also made the movie seem longer than it actually was.
Overall, The Godfather is a fantastic classic film. It's one of my favorites that I've seen so far. Lacking only a few things for that 4.0 grade that I'm looking for, The Godfather really is a masterpiece.
