I hadn't seen Clerks when I heard about this film. A lot of my friends told me that I would have to watch it, but when I heard that it was Kevin Smiths second film, I decided that I would have to see Clerks first. I became a fan of his movies and his style right away. Mallrats does go over the top in just about every aspect from the way people are in various situations to relationships. Overall I really like this film, it is original and very unique. I was happy to have gotten to visit the area of Redbank NJ where most of this film was shot, and I even got to go to the "dirt mall" flea market, which has since been closed and I believe turned into a movie theater.
If you like cultural humor than this is a movie to see.
