The perfect trilogy part I

While this is the least action oriented movie of the 3 in the series, The Fellowship of the Ring is an essential part as it sets the entire frame and ground work for all of the other movies. I really appreciated the work done on this movie as it was the best way to introduce the various characters and to give you time to develop an attachment to them. Many people say that this movie is the slowest of the 3, and I agree with the idea that because it is not built around the battle sequences that the other 2 have, yes it does rely more upon the story itself. As far as being dull, not in the least. Because most people that watch this movie for the first time don't always know a lot about the characters they have to develop an interest. This is not always easy to do, and since we are being introduced to a large number of characters as well as getting a general understanding of the power of the ring, we need to have as much time to find out what each of the characters has in mind when it comes to what their part is in the quest.
Everyone finds that they have a favorite character by the time this movie is done, and after seeing how things occur so quickly, you hope that they will survive to the end. Personally I thought Gimli was my favorite character, because as brave as he was he didn't alway "look before he lept" and his sense of humor was just a lot of fun.
The one thing that I definitely recommend to anyone interested in watching this Trilogy, to those that are new to the experience and to those that have seen it before, GET THE DIRECTORS CUT!!!!!! Some people though the movies were long already each nearly reaching 3 hours. Each movie in the directors cut has an extra 35 - 45 minutes of footage that changes many of the scenes of the film to have a completely different feel, and make the experience so much stronger! After having watched the directors versions I realized that there was not reason ever to watch the theatrical release again.
