There were a lot of people that knocked this movie and I can see why... but honestly I liked it, and I thought it was really funny. Ryan Reynolds is one of those guys that likes to take his character and give them a cutesy look all the while he has this smarmy sarcastic go f-yourself personality. Its funny because he can smile at someone and say something very insulting and the way he says it people don't quite know that they have been insulted.
In this he plays Chris Brander, a guy that was best friends with the hottest girl in school, the only problem is that he was really fat and she had locked him in the "Friend Zone" meaning that no matter what he did there was no way he was going to get any closer than best friends.
Well after being humiliated at the her graduation party, Chris takes off and doesn't return for a number of years. This time when he comes back he is thin, attractive, and he is slightly narcissistic. The reason for his return is because the musician he flying back to L.A. (a former girlfriend of his played by Anna Farris) is an idiot and starts a fire in the plane they were flying in, which forces an emergency landing near his old hometown.
The movie itself has plenty of laughs... it has a lot a great lines, and the interaction between Chris and his brother are absolutely hilarious! Yeah its mostly a chick flick but there are a number of one liners in there that can make any guy laugh.
