An original Disney concept

Flight of the Navigator, originally aired on the "Disney Sunday night movie". This was one of my favorite movies growing up. It was one that was just fun to watch. The funny thing is that, at the height of his career, it isn't until almost half way into the movie that you realize that Paul Rubens (Pee-Wee Herman) is the voice of "Max".
The movie may not exactly hold up against some of the other movies of the 80's but you have to also keep in mind that this was in the era of when Disney had stopped making animated cartoons. They wanted to make all live action features on a medium grade budget and run them on a non pay channel. This was also at the time when Cable television was really picking up steam, and the Disney channel was an additional cost like HBO.
The movie itself was great for kids at that time, some would find it rather corny today. Many of the jokes are dated, and what was considered to be really good effects at the time are a little more obvious today but if you are a Disney fan then you will probably at least find some part of it memorable.
