A Night at the Opera is considered to be one of the best Marx Brothers films made, it is always listed at the top of their best movies along side Duck Soup. This is also one of the first films that the Marx Brothers produced that had a polished storyline. The story was written around the Marx humor and it gave them a lot more to work with in the end. Irving Thalberg helped write the movie as well as produced it and he told the Marx Brothers that it would out perform any of their previous films. When all was said and done he was right it made more money than Duck Soup.
I recommend this film for anyone that likes old time comedy, or if you are around my age and want to see what was really popular when your grandparents were children. The Marx Brothers were in a league of their own.
