The World According to Al Gore.

This is an opinion piece disguised as a documentary. This film could also be entitled 'The world according to Al Gore'. Some people are easily swayed by "authority figures" such as Al Gore lecturing on matters such as the impending doom of man made Global Warming. In spite of the fact that Global Warming is supposed to be a scientific theory, most of its defenders say that you have to "believe" in it. There are lots of flaws in this film and I could not in all honesty spend my time trying to tell people that they need to go see this because Al Gore knows what he is talking about.
Unfortunately Gore took an angle on this film that has dragged it the wrong way. He wants everyone to believe that the reason for global warming is because America is filled with wasteful people and that we should all become more environmentally aware. He pushes the ideas that the temperature of the earth has risen somewhat dramatically in the last 100 years, and has been on the rise for the last 1000 years. What he doesn't say is that the world is somewhere in the range of 4.5 billion years old. This is a very long period of time, as we only have recorded historical references (cave drawings) that are 5500 years old. So the last 100 years the temperature has changed roughly 0.2 - 0.6 degrees doesn't really reflect as big an outcry as Gore would want us to have.
The problem is the world has been around for much longer than we have, It has endured far more than what we have put it through. The Earth may very well be getting warmer, but at the same time the Arctic Circle was once 70 degrees year round, and Florida was at one time covered in ice.
I just can't see myself following the teachings of someone that claimed he "invented the internet". Gore is a politician and always will be, he will use whatever propaganda to improve the way people see him, and this movie appears to be one of his best gimmicks to date. Unfortunately if I have to "believe" in a theory, in order for it to work, as opposed to having "actual scientific fact and enough evidence to support said facts" then I'm not going to jump on board this bandwagon any time soon.
If you really want to know what is going on as far as global warming, then do some research and read more than just the articles that support your theory. It's pretty easy to win a game when the other team wasn't invited to play.

Now while I really don't want to turn the review forum into an open debate on what Gore has to say, (yeah I'll admit I ranted in the review which I probably shouldn't have done as much) but this article
http://www.epw.senate.gov/pressitem.cfm?party=rep&id=257909 has some hard facts in it that completely debunk a lot of what Gore had to say. And if you look at the current trends on the Ozone holes you'll see that the Southern Hemisphere hole is actually slightly smaller than its normal size. …

I personally believe that global warming is real because when most of the scientific community states that it is our most likley theory. Theories like this are always picked apart at the begining. The fact that he is only talking about the receint 100 - 1000 years is actually more shocking because the world is so old. So that says to me that if we are shaping our environment that fast it needs to be looked at. Never in history have the inhabitants of the planet treated it the way we do. Here …
