Everything... Everything...

This is an emotion-driven film and the ensemble, Carell, Chalamet, and the rest did amazingly on how in situation like this, how good and caring parents should respond to the addiction problems of their innocent and pure-hearted son. However, I felt like the screenplay could have been better and that the overall direction could have been more solid. A material like this tends to be monotonous, talking about relapse which means things happen again and again, I wish they could have avoided that rhythm in the film without losing that message. I just thought that a single-perspective narrative could have been better. In fact, I was already hooked on the first third of the film, with David struggling to understand and make things right with Nic. I felt like the film tried to cover everything, knowing they are also basing it from Nic Sheff's book, and that causes the misdirection. But still, it is a film worth watching. Definitely not a bad one.
