The magic of Mary Poppins stays

It was real amazing how it appeared so new and fresh but very reminiscent of the original. I find it surreal when the its musicality and choreography reminds me clearly of the first Mary Poppins. I appreciate how the story line was a careful tweaking of the nostalgic story line we loved. I obviously did not see Mary Poppins (1964) on its original release dates, only to see it so much later. I admit that I have a relatively little appreciation of the original ultimately because it was not made for an audience like me. After watching Mary Poppins Returns, I get to appreciate so much more the family orientation and magic the original brought to the people of its time. I would say that the Mary Poppins franchise remains and will always be the standard of Fantasy-Musical genre. Am I the only one hopeful of a possible third installment of Mary Poppins?Provided that this "returns" sort of gave a workable path to the future? In conclusion, this is exactly how a follow-up to a classic piece should be.
