As a filmmaker myself, I liked the self-realized parts of the film and the hefty nods to Robert McKee's Story as an influence. The film is occasionally as neurotic as its characters, occasionally slowing down when it gets caught up in the twisting and turning subplots. Cage's over-acting serves him well here, though.
