Poignant Portrait of Grief

An incredible and multilayered film and, really, the only Atom Egoyan (a director who i think directs in excess) I enjoy. It is a poignant and thought-provoking portrait of grief and loss and I think the way Ian Holm's character's storyline contrasted and intersected with the town's grieving process was absolutely brilliant. Add in the symbolism of the Pied Piper narration and you have a movie that can be rewatched and dissected on so many levels, as well as one that connects with you emotionally.
