This is one of Herzog's best films, an unhinged and energetic approach to a singularly unique character. The film is, at heart, a triumphant story of rising above obstacles, but it's told with Herzog's characteristic attention to detail and is peppered with interesting supporting characters, that make the film feel fresh and original.
