The Thin Red Line is a thoughtful anti-war film, full of beautiful and striking imagery and poetic dialogue, often positioned in voiceover. It is exactly what one would imagine a war film by Malick to look like, so if you are expecting the grand spectacle of Saving Private Ryan, you may be disappointed.
