The Man Who Wasn't There is an introspective film noir from the Coen Brothers, understated in its delivery and performances. Some of the wacky characters still pop up, but the film is more of a morose meditation on life and death that slowly builds. The rich black and white cinematography and sparse score help the film create a unique impression.
